A Well-Baby Check offers medical insight and personalised support during your baby’s first year. It ensures your baby’s health and development are on track, while also providing valuable time for any questions or concerns you may have.
Led by Consultant Paediatrician Felicity Taylor, each session provides expert guidance and a thorough medical review, including a comprehensive physical examination.

These visits allow you to ask questions and express any concerns, ensuring open dialogue to support both your baby’s well-being and your peace of mind.
You will gain confidence knowing your baby is growing and developing as expected, all while receiving comprehensive care as you navigate life with a newborn.
- For babies from birth to 12 months old, by prior appointment only
- Available onsite only at Harpenden Medical and can be booked online or by calling 01582 291828. In the event you cannot find a suitable appointment time, the friendly reception team will assist you with further information
- You do not require a referral and can self-present
- Available as one-off consultations as and when you want them and Felicity is happy to advise on key developmental milestones. If you’d prefer to sign up for scheduled, regular health checks during your baby’s first year please see our Trusted Paediatrician Programme
- Appointments cost £260 and are payable in clinic following your appointment (card only). Well-Baby Checks cannot be funded by health insurance. Any additional charges, such as the cost of any extra tests, will be discussed with you in advance. Any required prescriptions will be included as part of the appointment fee (which will be fillable on a private prescription basis)
- Basic tests included (urine, blood sugar level)
- Appointment length: 60 minutes
- If onward referral to another tertiary specialist is required (e.g. paediatric ENT, paediatric neurology), Felicity can offer advice and facilitate referrals to the most appropriate healthcare professionals

If your baby is unwell and needs to be seen by a Paediatrician within 5 days or less please book a Prompt-Response Appointment.

What happens during the appointment?
Consultant Paediatrician Felicity Taylor will carry out a full assessment including history and thorough physical examination. Any existing conditions will be managed pro-actively. There will be plenty of time to ask questions, address any concerns, and discuss key points on taking care of your baby.
